The Impact of Color and Lighting in our Film Opening (FOP)

Hey, y'all, I'm back! Happy April Fools Day as well!

This is going to be a small one, no joke even though its the annual fools day we all love.

Today I'm discussing the color and lighting of our film opening (Sugar Rush).

Making the audience feel the way the actor act is enhanced by the low-key lighting of the mockumentary. The tone of Sugar Rush, while it may sound bright and colorful, is meant to be dark and eerie. It's intended to invoke a sense of mystery and help the viewer believe the event the witnesses had a scene. The only real bright scene in the opening are the aerial shots of the town. The interviewees are in monotonal clothing, which helps advance the narrative that this was saddening situation in the town.

If we had used high-key lighting, I know the intended affect would be completely different than what was acted out.

With this all said and done, I'm ending it here.

Cy'all next time!
